DRIVE-THROUGH GRADUATION INFORMATION
Haywood Community Learning Center is so proud of our Class of 2020 Graduates! The past few months have been a challenging time for our world, and especially so for our seniors. We will be honoring your hard work and dedication with a “Drive-Through” graduation ceremony on Monday, June 1st, 2020, at 4:00 pm.
Participants will follow the route outlined below to “line up” for our ceremony. Please turn onto Camelot Drive from Hazelwood Avenue (turn at the Hazelwood Post Office). Turn LEFT onto Brook Street at Mission Baptist Church, then turn LEFT again into our back parking lot (traffic will travel in the opposite direction than usual). Signs will be posted to direct traffic.
Please REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE for the ENTIRE DURATION of the drive-through.
HCLC staff will be posted at the driveway in between Hazelwood Baptist Church and the old preschool building to direct participants to pull onto Virginia Avenue ONE vehicle/group at a time. Participants will pull in front of the school where HCLC staff will greet you and HCLC director, Brookely Nicholson, will hand out graduates’ REAL diplomas along with goodie bags.
2020 HCLC Graduates will have an opportunity to have their photo taken professionally after the ceremony. Photographer Lori Johnson will be stationed with a photo backdrop at the end of Virginia Avenue, past the HCS Conference Center. ONE graduate will be photographed at a time. Information regarding ordering photos will be provided by Lori Goodson on June 1st.
We are also offering formal photographs in front of the HCLC sign in 20-minute slots on May 25th and May 26th 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Please contact Nancy Medford at 828-421-9265 to schedule a time slot.
INFORMATION ON CAPS, TASSELS, DIPLOMAS, AND GOWNS
Caps, tassels, and diplomas have been ordered for all graduates. We will NOT be charging June 2020 graduates for caps, tassels, or diplomas. If you would like to borrow or order a graduation gown, please call the front office at 828-454-6590.
We do not yet have a date for when caps and tassels will be ready for pickup, but will update this post when that information becomes available.
RECOGNITION IN LOCAL MEDIA
From Dr. Bill Nolte, Haywood County Schools Superintendent:
“We are asking parents, teachers, students, and family members to send in photos and captions of all the stellar moments of the 2020 high school seniors. We’re especially looking for fun moments of the grads with their friends, in groups at school, or even in past years since this year was cut short. It is important all the photos include captions of who is shown in the photos. We will post them on a special page on our website. There is no charge to them for this tribute, and we have unlimited space online. We would like each senior to have at least one photo on the gallery.
All submissions should be emailed to email@example.com.”
This will be a graduation to remember! We look forward to seeing you all and celebrating your accomplishments on June 1st. You did it!
