Haywood Community Learning Center (HCLC) — formerly the Alternative Learning Center (ALC) — is a dropout recovery and alternative learning program located in Waynesville, North Carolina, nestled between the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains.
HCLC offers students a small, supportive environment, flexible scheduling, and individualized instruction.
Students who have dropped out of high school or are otherwise not finding success in a traditional school setting are given the opportunity to complete the remaining course credits required to earn their high school diploma at HCLC. Upon completion of course credits, HCLC graduates are awarded a NC high school diploma from Central Haywood High School.
